Hey everyone, around this time last year I discovered I was a victim of fraud and had a number of inaccurate items on my report/things in collections. I filed a police report, underwent disputes, submitted the police report to the credit bureaus, etc. Everything is finally off my report except for 2 medical collections which seem to be legit. I've browsed the forum and now I'm looking for some insight.
1.) I received medical care from my primary care doctor. They sent lab work out to a different provider as the test was optional and wasn't covered by my health insurance. I vaguely remember the dr explaining this and asking me to sign something before they did the extra test.
2.) I never received a bill or notification that I owed anything to them, I just saw it listed under collections/negative accounts when I pulled my credit report. I didn't even know what the collection was for until I called.
3.) On Friday I contacted the original creditor, letting them know I was unaware of the accounts and had never received notification or a bill. The person at the OC I spoke to indicated it was for medical care with my primary physician, the dates I was seen, etc. and that bills were sent to 1234 XXX (my old address). At the time I received medical care I was no longer living there. The person at the OC suggested I call my primary care physician to see what address they had on file. I did so and they confirmed the address they had was 5678 YYY (my current address). Despite having insurance for 10+ years, seeing the same Dr for that same amount of time, never having a billing issue, etc. this has happened twice...because they had the wrong address and I didn't find out until it was on my credit report.
4.) These two medical collections ($97 and $72) are the only two negative items on my credit report.
A.) AAMS (Iowa):
Placed for collection: March 2014 (first delinquency Jan 2013)
Balance: $97
Date updated: May 2015
Past Due: $97 (same balance)
Pay Status: In collection
B.) FirstCredit (Ohio):
Placed for collection: November 2015
Balance: $72
Date updated: April 2016
Past Due: $72 (same balance)
Pay Status: In collection
5.) Inconsistencies between the three bureaus:
A.) TransUnion: Both collections accounts appear on the most recent report, but AAMS is not on the paper TransUnion report I received in the mail from Feb 2015 when I was clearing my repot for fraudulent activity.
B.) Equifax: Only one account appears, AAMS but not FirstCredit.
C.) Experian: Experian shows neither collections account/shows everything as clear.
6.) I definitely received medical care so I'm not trying to get out of paying whatever I allegedly owe. I just don't want these items to stay on my report for 7 years and impact my score if I can avoid it.
What should I do? I'd really appreciate your advice. Pease help : ) Thank you!
