Account sent to collections during Covid

I am not sure if anyone can help me here but Ill ask anyhow.  I have a small business and I have posted in here for personal credit reasons but never a business reason.  Here is my situation.  I have a small company, and our work came to a halt in April, All creditor worked with me so far with the one.  It is a fleet fuel card that I owe a balance on I paid the account in full in March but my fuel bill always processed on the 23rd of the month, so of course when work dies on April 20 my new fuel bill comes out on April 23.  I called creditor and let them know we could not make full payment, I paid $2500 towards balance and kept in contact weekly.  Always updated my status with them, still paid $100 to $200 dollar payments when I could, Since April I have been able to pay $1000 towards bill but it is still high.  Every time I contacted them they would thank me for my update and inform me that they had nothing in place to help with issues during Covid.  So fast forward account comes to 120 days past due and they send the debt off to a collections agency, Now that agency is trying to collect a total of $9000 when my original balance is only $7200.  Anyone have info on what I can do?  I have tried all avenues, my business is small and didn't get much help with Covid relief, we did get unemployment but not near enough to keep up with business and personal bills, now with unemployment stimulus we get even less.  My hands are tied and I can't think of what to do to help myself before I fall into this freaking black hole..
