Hi everyone! I've posted here before in regards to PRA and a couple of accounts they purchased from Synchrony. I have now been sued for one of those accounts. I need help in making my next move. So here's a little background on where I'm at right now. The debt is over $5k and under $6k (I'm being purposely vague) and I've recieved plenty of letters from PRA and a couple from their law firm. So fast forward to yesterday and I got a letter from NH Circuit Court stating that a small claim complaint was filed against me from PRA. I have til Feb 23rd to file my response. 1 thing that struck me odd is that I wasn't served by a sherrif, the letter didn't even come registered or certified. Just plain old first class mail. How do they know I even got it? What if it was lost in the mail, happens all the time. But I digress.
So I know I need to file my response before the deadline to avoid a default judgement. I also know that Synchrony offers free JAMS, so I'm guessing my next step is to file a JAMS arbitration? I've looked at it before and found the instructions to be a bit confusing, but I'll have to check it out again. What am I up against here? What's the likely hood of me having to actually go in front of a judge and am I likely to lose? Can't see them getting much money from me, can't afford to pay my bills as it is. Any and all help here is GREATLY appreciated!!
