I am working to clean up my credit report. I have 5 medical collections reporting for a grand total of $665. The largest one is $247 and the smallest is $16. I have no idea if they are legit or not, after two surgeries, the stacks of mail from insurance was ridiculous. Regardless, I am willing just to pay the $665, but want the collections removed from the credit report. Has anyone had success with this? These amounts are so small and I am sure they are not going to ever try and collect on these amounts, but it is trashing my credit. My thought is to send them a letter for each amount and offer to pay each off in full as long as they agree to remove the entry from my credit reports.
Thoughts?
