I just read that acknowledging a debt, even if it's past SOL will reage it. My auto loan is past the 7 years SOL by two years, I live in NY. I wasn't aware that this would happen when I spoke to an old creditor last Thursday. They called once on Thursday, twice on Friday, twice Monday, and twice today asking if I wanted to make a payment or if I could pay the loan in full.
I'm out of work and receive permanent Social Security Disability and will be on regular Social Security in June. They were aware that I was on SSD as I told them so during the conversations we had the few times they contacted me years ago. I was even told it was noted in the record they have on my account. After this, no one contacted me until this past Thursday...almost eight years later!
Also, should they be sending me a letter in a few days since they spoke to me on Thursday?
Since this is the OC, is this handled differently than it they were a CA?
