I live in Colorado, but was a resident of New York State until 2012. I was attempting to secure a vehicle loan through my credit union in NY, when it was discovered that a judgment was entered in 2009 by Arrow Financial Services, LLC. I never received any kind of service of process in that regard, and had no idea it was there.
I attempted to contact Arrow Financial to get it figured out, and found out that they have closed down. No one answers their customer service numbers or anything. So, I contacted the County Clerk where the judgment was entered. They did not have any more information than I did regarding the judgment. I have no idea if it was sold to another company or anything. I disputed the judgment with Experian, as the statute of limitations has passed. However, I still have no answers as to where this came from, who has possession of this debt, or how to get it removed from my credit report. I cannot send out a validation letter to an unknown entity.
If I apply for a loan in Colorado, will the judgment in New York still be a debt which is counted against me? Shouldn't an item that has passed the statute of limitations be removed from a credit report? How do I find out who has this debt so I can get it removed? Any guidance in this matter is certainly appreciated!
